350 Trees Series

Race-for-Trees is an eco-tourism initiative for nature appreciation toward preservation – we intend to expose every person involve this event, the participants, the volunteers, officials and the community to the scenery of the countryside route to develop our sense of accountability to Mother Earth.

Every runner, walker or sponsor who will register in the series will fund one (1) native tree to be raised and will be counted to accomplish 350 trees to be planted this year. Individual Bib Race numbers will be printed from 001 to 350 representing the 350 trees – a doable effort to stabilize atmospheric CO2.

Let us plant a tree and make your run count, run the series!

Why 350 Trees?

The world atmospheric CO2 for August 2009 is 385.92 parts per million (ppm), as published at the CO2Now.org by the world’s most current data for atmospheric CO2 measurements at the Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii posted this September 10, 2009.

”350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Scientists measure carbon dioxide in “parts per million” (ppm), so 350 ppm is the number humanity needs to get below as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change. To get there, we need a different kind of PPM -a “people powered movement” that is made of people like you in every corner of the planet”-quoted from the 350.org website.

We join this 350.org an international grassroots campaign to rally support to the global climate movement united by a common call to action to ensure that the world creates bold and equitable solutions to the climate crisis.
